Brooke Claroni, Giana Fiore & Jekko Syquia: Photo Composer
PhotoComposer is an Android smart-camera app that teaches users how to take better photos. While there are many photography applications on the market, they are broadly geared toward making better photos with editing and filters. PhotoComposer enables users to actually capture better images, minimizing postprocessing and delivering a superior product. To accomplish this, the application carries out the following three steps:
- The application accepts a photo from the user via upload or live capture and automatically detects the photo’s subject.
- The application analyzes the photo’s composition and provides the user with an overall grade, along with a detailed evaluation based on five technical photography criteria: rule of thirds, framing, exposure, clarity, and level.
- The application provides the user with actionable suggestions so the user may better capture the subject next time, and also offers reference images of well-received photos of the same subject for the user to find inspiration.
Bios:
Brooke Claroni
Brooke is a senior at GW majoring in Computer Science and focusing on Software Engineering & Application Development. Her favorite Computer Sciences course have been Handheld Devices, HCI, and AR/VR. At GW, Brooke also co-founded and served as the 4-year President of GW Club Gymnastics. She is originally from Boston, MA where she plans to return for graduate school and work as a Software Engineer while coaching gymnastics at the High School Varsity level.
Giana Fiore
Giana Fiore is a senior at The George Washington University pursuing a bachelor of science in computer science and a minor in business administration. She is also the lead website consultant at the George Washington University Credit Union Initiative. Giana will continue working in the DC metro area after graduation on mobile application development. She is excited to apply her coursework in Handheld Devices, Augmented and Virtual Reality, and Senior Design to her professional endeavors.
Jekko Syquia
Jekko Syquia is senior at the George Washington University pursing a bachelor of science in computer science. He is enthusiastic about handheld devices, augmented and virtual reality development, and computer graphics. Also passionate about graphics, Jekko was a winner at the Adobe Creative Jam of 2018 for graphics. During his time at GW, Jekko worked as a senior laboratory technician and web developer at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He has worked closely with the faculty to facilitate the judging of the Research and Development showcase and Festival of Animation. Jekko is looking forward to entering mobile/software/VR/AR development as a professional career. Jekko is from Waldorf, Maryland.
