GW CS Senior Design 2018
We are building upon the educational mobile and web application CAPITAL (Comprehension and Pronunciation Instructional Tools for Adult Learners).
Using natural language processing techniques, our algorithms automatically generate reading-comprehension questions based on the given passages selected for the courses. Our project will create lessons for a high level of adult literacy education. The application will also allow teachers to create their own comprehension questions and edit ones that have already been generated. Algorithms in the application verify that questions written and edited by teachers are still appropriate for the given grade level, and can automatically adjust questions so that they accurately reflect the correct difficulty for the given grade. Teachers are able to use these tools within an interface that interacts with the application and database via ReMind.
Team Hess and Taubes:
My name is Benjamin Hess and I am a senior at GWU. I am majoring in Computer Science with a technical track in Computer Security and a minor in Criminal Justice. Though I am interested in learning more about network security and information assurance my criminal studies have increased my interest in social justice. I believe this project will be a great way to showcase my skills and make a positive difference in many people's lives.
My name is Terrance Taubes and I am a senior at GWU. I am majoring in Computer Science with a technical track in Data Science and Analytics. I have a great interest in the many different applications of machine learning and have worked on projects involving big data, data analysis, and text analytics. I look forward to building upon my skills in the natural language processing field and to be a part of an application that will be of benefit for the people who need it.
